In the 1930s, reports emerged from the Bayan Har mountains on the China-Tibet border describing the discovery of hundreds of stone discs inside ancient burial caves. A controversial figure named Tsum Um Nui allegedly translated the markings in the 1960s, claiming they recorded the crash of an extraterrestrial craft and the survival struggles of stranded beings. Mainstream archaeology does not recognize these translations as verified scholarship. Chinese academic publications have not confirmed the existence of such discs in official museum collections. The Dropa Stones remain widely categorized as a fringe archaeological legend rather than an authenticated artifact set.
